Fostering Vietnam-Russia parliamentary cooperation

(VOVworld) – The Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership has made significant progress thanks to close cooperation between the two parliaments, said Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Ilyas Umakhanov. At a Tuesday reception for Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Nguyen Thanh Son at the headquarters of the Federation Council, Umakhanov hailed Vietnam’s hosting of the 132nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU 132), saying Russia will send a delegation to the event.: "Russia attaches much importance to Vietnam’s hosting of IPU 132 for the first time and this is reflected in the participation of a high-ranking Russian delegation led by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian Federation Council of Russia."

Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Nguyen Thanh Son said Vietnam has completed its preparations for IPU 132. He briefed his host on upcoming visits between Vietnam and Russia, in particular Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Vietnam next month and a visit to Russia by Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Son said he hoped the Russian Federation Council will create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Russia and support Vietnam in making the Incentra multi-functional complex in central Moscow a symbol of cooperation between Vietnam and Russia.
