French President Emmanuel Macron tweeted, “To win against the pandemic, vaccine access needs to be global and equitable. That is why France has just shared 670,000 vaccine doses with Vietnam as part of the Covax program.”

The French Embassy said the vaccines will be delivered in late August or early September. Vietnam is the second country in Asia to receive vaccines from France, who has promised to donate at least 5% of its vaccines, around 30 million doses, to developing countries through Covax this year.

Earlier Hungary pledged 100,000 AstraZaneca doses and 100,000 COVID-19 rapid test kits for Vietnam.
