(VOVworld) - Fresh French spending on security in response to the Paris attacks will amount to hundreds of millions of euros, said Dominique Lefebvre, deputy and vice-president of the French parliament's finance commission, on Wednesday.

This decision shows France’s determination to ensure national security after the recent attacks even if it means missing its EU deficit targets.

On Wednesday, French police and soldiers stormed an apartment building in Saint-Denis in North Paris, after a seven-hour siege, killing two people and arresting 7 others.
An official said the suspects were living with an IS militant named Abdelhamid Abaaoud and storing a number of heavy arms. Abaaoud is believed to have been plotting a series of gun and bomb attacks in Paris. The official said the suspects had planned to attack the La Defense trade center following the November 13 attack.
