(VOV) – The “Friends of Syria” meeting opened on Saturday in Istanbul, Turkey with representatives from the US, Europe and Arab participating. A member of Syria’s opposition said the meeting will be a breakthrough helping to end the 2-year crisis in Syria. The meeting will focus on a military agreement for Syria’s opposition. In the last “Friends of Syria” meeting in Roma, Italy, the US, for the first time, committed to provide non-lethal military aid to Syria’s opposition and increase its support to the civil force in Syria. Meanwhile, Britain and France planned to loosen EU’s weapon sanctions to assist Syria’s opposition.

UN-Arab League peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi on Friday said he is having dialogues with parties of Syria and consulted with the members of the UN Security Council especially Russia and the US to search for a solution for Syria’s crisis.
