Global action needed to stop Ebola and climate change

(VOVworld)- Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim agreed that stopping the spread of Ebola and dealing with climate change are the two top priorities of the  International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

Speaking at the IMF-World Bank annual meeting in Washington this week, Christine Lagarde said that global action is needed in the fight against Ebola and climate change. She added the critical importance of sustaining efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as the 2015 deadline approaches. World Bank President Jim Yong Kim also called for action to stop climate change and the spreading of Ebola epidemic which together are causing the deaths of thousands of people. According to the latest report of World Health Organization, the Ebola virus had affected more than 8,000 people of whom almost 4,000 had died since this March in four Western African countries including Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leona and Nigeria.
