Hamas and Israel agree to Gaza ceasefire

Israel and the Hamas militant group on Wednesday agreed on a ceasefire to end eight consecutive days of the fighting which killed more than 170 people. Egypt's foreign minister, Mohammed Amr announced the truce in a join meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Cairo. Under the agreement, Egypt will play an intermediary role in maintaining the peace. According to the truce, Israel must stop attacks on any terrain in Gaza Strip and Palestinian factions have to stop all movements against Israel including missile and border attacks. Israel also promised to open up all border gates and eases travel restrictions for people and goods into Gaza Strip.
