Addressing the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Craft Villages Festival 2023, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said that, as handicraft articles represent the cultural values and identity of every nation, his ministry will help Vietnam’s craft villages promote the tangible, intangible, and economic values of their products.

“We’ll continue to work with ministries, sectors, and localities to preserve, develop, and promote craft villages and contribute to new style rural area building and the advancement of the rural economy,” Minister Hoan said.

At the opening ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue presented awards to participants in the 2023 Vietnam Handicraft Competition.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, more than 3.6 million people including 2,100 artisans are involved in the handicraft industry in Vietnam. The Hanoi area has 56% of Vietnam’s 1,300 craft villages.
