“How will the capital develop in the next decades? The municipal Party organization, administration, and people should be aware of their position, role, and responsibility," said Mr. Trong.

"Hanoi holds an important position and enjoys advantages and potential that can be found nowhere else. The municipal party organization must have a vision into the future and take appropriate steps for each stage in line with the national comprehensive development strategy,” he noted.

According to a draft action program, Hanoi’s per capita gross regional domestic product (GRDP) is set to climb to 8,500 USD by 2025 and 36,000 USD by 2045.

The Congress is scheduled to run through Tuesday.
