The meeting discussed plans and roadmaps to transition and develop a system of electric and green energy buses for Hanoi.
Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen said given the current state of air pollution, transitioning to green energy vehicles is a key concern of the city.
In addition to buses, Hanoi is working towards a comprehensive transition to green energy vehicles, which include taxis and private vehicles. The Hanoi Construction Department have also been asked to work with localities to review and propose plans to implement charging stations.
Currently, Hanoi’s bus network covers 512 out of 579 communes, wards, and townships, or more than 88% of the city’s commune-level administrative units. Of the more than 1,900 buses in operation, just 28 run on electricity and liquefied natural gas.
