Hanoian Bui Y Nhi selected for 2021 Girls Takeover series
(VOVWORLD) - 20-year-old Bui Y Nhi of Hanoi has been been selected for the 2021 Girls Takeover series, jointly sponsored by the Embassy of Sweden in Vietnam and PLAN International to empower girls in different fields.

As a Takeover girl this year, Nhi gets to fill the shoes of Swedish Ambassador Ann Måwe for one day, and intends to focus on strengthening digital literacy for girls to help ensure a safe and inclusive digital space.
Speaking of disinformation and its harmful efforts, Nhi said not everyone has the skills to identify fake news or scams online.
“I think if children and girls are taught the necessary skills to navigate false information online, they are capable of fighting against false truths, misogyny, hate speech, and inequality. This task can only be carried out effectively if people join hands to teach all children about digital literacy," Nhi said.
This is the third consecutive year the Embassy of Sweden in Hanoi has participated in PLAN International’s Girls Takeover series.
October 11th is observed as International Day of the Girl Child, celebrating girls in their diversity and pointing out where progress still needs to be made.
