Vietnam’s Victory in the Spring of 1975 was extremely important for the Vietnamese people, marking the country’s sovereignty, unity, independence, and freedom. It has resounded around the world announcing a nation that would not yield to foreign invaders, and proving the steadfastness and courage of the Vietnamese people in gaining national independence and freedom. A Russian reporter Ialien Ecurina said: "The victory was momentous. It was the success of freedom from exploitation and of the Vietnamese against American imperialists. The victory also manifested the will, courage, and heroism of the Vietnamese nation."
The triumph of the Resistance War was the convergence of many factors. This was a war of justice under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh. The Communist Party of Vietnam maintained and displayed a spirit of independence and self-control, and held aloft the flags of national independence and socialism. It was a people’s war which mobilized the population to launch offensives against the enemy, according to Senior Lieutenant-General Phan Trung Kien, former Deputy Defense Minister. Kien said: "The liberation of the southern region to unify the country stands for the strength of national unity without religious discrimination but involving the whole people in the struggle. Besides, the victory was greatly due to the preeminent leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam."

French historian Alain Ruscio has said the 1975 Spring Victory was not only important to the Vietnamese but also to people around the world. Sharing Ruscio’s view, French reporter and film director Daniel Roussel highlighted the triumph’s significance in inspiring other oppressed nations around the globe to fight for their independence. Chinese reporter Zhang Jia Xiang said: "Vietnam’s resistance war against American imperialists, especially the heroic fighting spirit of the Vietnamese people and army, has been praised globally. Vietnamese people deserve the admiration and praise of the international community. Their spirit made me feel very moved." The victory in 1975 will forever be a brilliant milestone in Vietnamese history and a driving force for the nation in its construction process.
