Ho Chi Minh City delegates visit Truong Sa archipelago

(VOV) – A Ho Chi Minh city delegation visited the Big Island of Truong Sa or Spratly archipelago on Thursday and presented gifts to civilians and soldiers.

The gifts included 2 boats, TV sets, computers and air conditioners donated by the Fund for Beloved Truong Sa raised by Ho Chi Minh city’s Fatherland Front Committee. The delegation also presented more than 1,000 scholarships worth 250,000 VND each to outstanding individuals on the island. Tran Tuan Hung, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh city’s Fatherland Front Committee, said: "Since 2009, the Fund for Beloved Truong Sa has been supported by many city residents. Last year, the Fund had more than 16 billion VND. The Fund is expected to receive around 30 billion VND this year to build facilities for civilians and soldiers on Truong Sa". 

A program called “Contributing stone to build Truong Sa” and a Fund to support children’s education have received billions of VND.
