(VOVworld) - Ho Chi Minh City has welcomed 1.8 million overseas holidaymakers during the past five months, a year-on-year increase of 10% , up 15% in revenue against the same period last year. According to the municipal tourism department, the sector is focusing on stimulating tourism demands and developing river-based tourist packages. The city’s hospitality industry work closely with other provinces around the country to introduce tours of orchards to attract more visitors. It’s also running promotions that target the domestic market and increasing international cooperation. La Quoc Khanh, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, says ‘We are trying to control the business environment and any activities that relate to tourism to ensure that they are in line with the law. We are also continuing with our promotions and advertising campaigns in the international market’.
