(VOVworld) - House Republicans formally nominated Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan for Speaker on Wednesday, to replace John Boehner, who vowed to leave at the end of October.
The secret-ballot vote was 200 for Ryan to 43 for Daniel Webster. Ryan's nomination all but ensures he will be elected Speaker when the full House votes on Thursday. Republicans now hold a majority of the seats in the House.
