Human rights important in Vietnamese education

(VOVWORLD) - The Party and State see people as the motive and driver of national development and defense, Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, said at a meeting to review a plan to foster human rights in education.

“The Vietnamese government sees people as the center and driving force of national development and defense. This shows that Vietnam acknowledges human rights and refutes the false and distorted claims of hostile forces.”

A plan to include human rights in Vietnam’s educational curricula was approved in September 2017 under the Party Secretariat’s guidance on human rights work in the new situation. It realizes the 2013 Constitution’s guarantee of recognition, respect, and protection of human rights, and implements Vietnam’s international commitment to promote human rights in education.
