(VOVworld) The 2012 Huyen Tran Temple Festival closed in Thua Thien-Hue province on the 15th day of the first Lunar month. The celebration honours Princess Huyen Tran, who made great contributions to the expansion of the Vietnamese territory in the 14th century. In addition to a grand ceremony to pray for peace, safety and prosperity, the festival featured traditional martial art performances, folk games, human chess, calligraphy, and chanting contests. During 8 days of festivities, Thua Thien Hue province welcomed more than 30 thousand tourists. Ngo Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Thua Thien Hue provincial People’s Committee, said: “There’s a saying that no-one ever forgets the Huyen Tran Temple festival which begins on  the 9th day of the first lunar month. We are happy to welcome people to the festival to follow tradition and show gratitude to Huyen Tran Princess and ancestors who made great services to the nation”.
