The article said Mr. Chinh raised some very pertinent questions about creating maritime awareness and consciousness at a global level. The article quoted Prime Minister Chinh as saying that with increasing maritime tensions and new kinds of challenges, there is a need for building trust and making a concerted effort to resolve long-standing maritime disputes, and a need for ensuring peace in the maritime domain and developing an architecture for exploiting marine resources in a sustainable manner. The article concluded by saying that, as Vietnam has taken the lead in addressing current East Sea problems, expectations have risen for Vietnam’s long-term role in settling disputes in this area.
