Indonesia considering buying Russian oil

(VOVWORLD) - Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo is considering joining India and China in buying Russian oil to offset increasing pressure of rising energy costs in the country, the Financial Times reported on Monday.

When asked in an interview with he Financial Times whether Indonesia would buy oil from Russia, he said that Indonesia always monitors all of its options. "If there is a better price, then of course."

In August, Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno said that Indonesia had been offered Russian crude at a 30% discount. President Joko Widodo was considering it but there were concerns that Indonesia would be affected by US sanctions.
