(VOVworld) – The 132nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132) will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam, for the first time after 3 consecutive years in Geneva.
1,650 delegates, who include parliament presidents and vice presidents, have registered.
According to Nguyen Thanh Hai, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Office, Vietnam has hosted a number of big international events and made a good impression on foreign friends. IPU-132 will be another chance for Vietnam to introduce its history, culture, land, people, and recent economic development. Various activities will be held on the sidelines of the main meeting of IPU-132 including visits to Vietnam’s scenic spots and heritages and a gala night to promote solidarity among parliaments, to be held in Hanoi’s outlying district of Dong Mo. Hai said:“IPU-132 will enable us to promote the diverse culture of different ethnic groups in Vietnam, through which we hope delegates will better understand the Vietnamese people, who are peace-loving, hard-working, and optimistic.”

We have worked with the Hanoi authorities to offer tours to Duong Lam ancient village and Bat Trang ceramic village in addition to the two main tours of Ha Long Bay and the Trang An ecotourism complex.”
