(VOVWORLD) - The Israeli Defense Ministry said it will reopen the sole cargo crossing from the Gaza Strip on Wednesday if the recent calm continues.

Minister Avigdor Lieberman said the Kerem Shalom gate will open at 9 am local time and the fishing zone will be extended to 14 kilometers from the coast.
The Israeli government closed Kerem Shalom on July 9 in retaliation for incendiary kite and balloon attacks by Palestinians and attempts to infiltrate its territory.
