Japan promotes Indo-Pacific region cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga plans to meet US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo next week in Tokyo, keeping his promise to cooperate with the US to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

The meeting will take place on the sideline of the foreign ministers meeting between the US, Japan, India, and Australia next Tuesday and Wednesday. 

The foreign ministers gathering is expected to focus on security cooperation between Tokyo, Washington, Canberra, and New Delhi. Promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific region was a priority mentioned during a recent teleconference between Suga and the EU.
