Japan, US to work closely to prevent N.Korea’s nuclear test

Japan and the US have agreed to work closely with South Korea to dissuade North Korea from conducting new nuclear test. Director General of the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceania Affairs Bureau Shinsuke Sugiyama, and US special envoy on North Korea Glyn Davies met Monday in Tokyo to discuss measures to respond to North Korea’s nuclear test.

They set out plan to pressurize North Korea to comply with the resolutions of the UN Security Council for not executing any provocation including the nuclear test. They also agreed to work with China and Russia – two negotiators of the 6-party talks to resolve nuclear issues. Davies told reporters following the meeting that future talks possibly including that between the US and North Korea may face obstacles once Pyongyang insists on its nuclear test.
