Japanese foreign minister to visit Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi will visit Vietnam next week as part of his trip to Southeast Asia, whose stops will also include Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

A Japanese official said Mr. Motegi’s visit aims to enhance cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in regional and international forums as well as promote  bilateral economic ties, including receiving Vietnamese guest workers. The visit also affirms the coordination between Vietnam and Japan to maintain and promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

During his Vietnam visit scheduled to begin next Thursday, Minister Motegi is expected to meet with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, lay a wreath at the Monument to War Heroes and Martyrs, and visit the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. He will attend a signing ceremony of Japan’s providing ODA to Vietnam.
