Japanese government may allocate extra funds to cope with quakes

(VOVworld) – Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Monday that the government may allocate additional funds to recovery from two recent earthquakes in southwestern Japan.

He insisted that the government will take every necessary measure to help quake-damaged areas around Kumamoto and Oita prefecture. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said reserve funds of 3.2 billion USD in the state budget may be available for quake recovery.

The Japanese government plans to double food aid to 1.8 million meals to cope with the food crisis in Kumamoto.

The Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka has donated food to Vietnamese citizens in quake-hit areas, particularly Beppu. Vietnamese citizens have taken shelter at local schools and camps set up by the Japanese army.
