Japanese media pay attention to Vietnam’s Party Congress

(VOVworld) – Many major Japanese newspaper have covered Vietnam’s 12th National Party Congress. The NHK said the congress will elect new leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam and discuss important issues now that Vietnam has joined the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the ASEAN Economic Community. It will also discuss ways to strengthen national defense.

The Sankei newspaper said the political report presented by Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong at the opening session called for restructuring the economy, accelerating industrialization and modernization, and fighting corruption. The Yomiuri newspaper said Vietnam aims to become an industrial nation through economic restructuring, reform policies, and a socialist-oriented market economy. The Japan News reported that major opportunities have been created but there remain challenges and difficulties for Vietnam.
