The meeting began at 10AM local time in the truce village of Panmunjom, said South Korean Unification Ministry. South Korea’s Vice Transport Minister Kim Jeong-Ryeol said he will discuss necessary matters for connecting and modernizing railways of the two Koreas with his Northern counterpart. He said there could be limits due to sanctions on the North, but they still have much to discuss and study about various projects that could be pursued after sanctions are lifted. This marks the first time in 10 years the two Koreas have held cooperative talks on the construction of an interconnecting railway line.
