(VOVworld) – Delegates from Vietnam Bar Federation’s provincial branches discussed different opinions on the implementation of a regulation on lawyers’ responsibility to provide free legal aid at a seminar held on Friday in Hanoi. High on the seminar agenda was a number of issues regarding subjects qualified for free legal aid, content and areas applicable for free legal aid, the establishment of funds, as well as regulations for implementation. Vice President of the Viet Nam Bar Federation Do Ngoc Thinh stressed the importance of providing free legal aid, saying it was on the lawyers’ conscience and responsibility to do so. Free legal aid gives the poor and disadvantaged people access to and instruction to use legal regulations to protect their legitimate rights and interests. This is also expected to raise their understanding of laws, contributing to the prevention of disputes and legal violations.
