Leipzig Mayor thanks Vietnam for support in COVID-19 fight

(VOVWORLD) -Mayor Burkhard Jung of Leipzig, Germany, expressed his profound gratitude this week to Vietnamese partners for supporting Leipzig in its fight against COVID-19.

Leipzig’s St. Georg Hospital was given 10,000 medical facemasks and 1,000 other pieces of protective equipment by HCM City’s Military Hospital 175. The gift was transported for free by Vietnam Airlines, which was returning German citizens on the same flight.

Mayor Jung said this challenging period has highlighted the importance of long-term cooperation between Leipzig and its global partners.

As twin cities, Ho Chi Minh City and Leipzig have developed a cooperative relationship in a number of fields. Leipzig is the only German city that has a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City.
