Localities to present Tet gifts for poor people

(VOVworld) – The Red Cross Society said Wednesday localities have donated 1.1 million gifts for the poor and agent orange/dioxin victims on the upcoming lunar Tet holiday. Its local branches have offered free health check-ups, medicine, and wheelchairs to disadvantaged locals.

The Red Cross of the central province of Ha Tinh have encouraged organizations and businesses to help disadvantaged people celebrate Tet with the hope that 14,500 gifts will be presented.

In the north coastal province of Nam Dinh, provincial Fatherland Front Committee echoed on the “Day for the poor” campaign and selected needy households which deserve the support. President of the Nam Dinh provincial Fatherland Front Committee Bui Tan Tien told reporters:  The provincial Fatherland Front Committee has spent 4,800 USD to grant presents to disabled and orphaned children. We have allocated funding to take care of poor households.

Authorities of the northern province of Cao Bang, despite many difficulties, have provided assistance to beneficiary and poor households. In the meantime they have encouraged local organizations and business to join hands to bring Tet to the poor.
