(VOVworld) - ASEAN unity is a principal factor in the region’s peace, stability, and prosperity and Malaysia cannot achieve progress if the region is embroiled in conflicts, said Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak Friday in his message on the occasion of ASEAN’s 47th anniversary.He said Malaysia, as one of the founding members of ASEAN, should be proud of its efforts to ensure ASEAN’s success. He said ASEAN solidarity had succeeded in gaining the trust of the world community. Najib said ASEAN’s objective is to create a forward-looking community, play a major role in regional issues, contribute to building a community that is responsible, conflict free, and economically vibrant. These things will bring ASEAN closer to the people and turn it into a caring and socially responsible organization.
