Man accused of plotting government overthrow sentenced to 15 years

(VOVworld) – A Supreme Court in Tuy Hoa township opened an appeal trial on Monday for Ngo Hao who was born in 1948, on the charge of acts to overthrow the people’s government. The judges rejected the defendant’s appeal and maintained the 15-year jail term announced by the Phu Yen People’s Court of Instance on September 11.

According to the indictment, from 2008 to December 2012, Ngo Hao had stored, written, distributed and forwarded many documents which distort the regime and smear the leaders. He had many times received money from an organization called “The Vietnamese Republic Government in Exile” led by Nguyen Van Chuc, who has settled in the US. The cash was sent to support sabotage acts and an attempt to topple the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
