(VOVworld) – A seminar was held in Can Tho city on Saturday to seek measures to attract investment resources for the development of the Mekong River Delta region. Nguyen Phong Quang, Vice Head of the Southwestern region Steering Committee says 'Until 2020, we should focus on turning the region into one of the country’s key economic hubs combining fast but sustainable economic growth rate and eco-system protection, response to climate change, poverty reduction and improvement of people’s living conditions especially among ethnic groups in the region'. Over the past decade since 2001, the region’s annual average economic growth rate was 12%. The economic restructuring was made in the direction to increase contributions of industry, construction, trade and services while reducing the ratio of agriculture, forest and aquaculture.
