(VOVworld) – Eighteen soldiers have been killed and three others are in critical conditions after a Russian-made MI-171 military helicopter crashed during a parachute training mission in Hanoi’s outskirt of Thach That on Monday morning. On Monday and Tuesday, relatives of the victim soldiers arrived in Hanoi for DNA tests.

At Monday’s working session with the Le Huu Trac National Institute of Burns, Senior Lieutenant General Ngo Xuan Lich asked that a memorial service for the fallen soldiers should be held in pursuance with the wishes of their family members and in accordance with local customs. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Hanoi-based Military Hospital 108 on Friday.
