(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s foreign affairs policy and integration were the focuses of a seminar hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico on Wednesday. Vietnamese Ambassador Le Linh Lan introduced participants to Vietnam’s milestones in international integration, its role and active participation in ASEAN, and Vietnam’s recent achievements in foreign relations and socio-economic development. Lan highlighted Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, openness, diversification, multilateralization of external relations, and active international integration.

Vietnam has been an active member of international organizations such as the UN peace keeping mission. It has been involved in regional and global mechanisms and forums, which also serves its national interests. Some of Vietnam’s major foreign relations achievements include normalizing ties with the US and China, joining ASEAN and the World Health Organization, and signing the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement.

Ambassador Lan responded to questions about Vietnam-Mexico trade ties, Vietnam’s major economic partner, Vietnam’s visa procedures, and Vietnam’s views on relations with world powers.
