Mong’s making patterns on costumes recognized as national intangible cultural heritage

(VOVWORLD) - The art of making patterns on traditional costumes of the Mong ethnic minority people has been recognized as national intangible cultural heritage at a ceremony on Saturday in Dien Bien province.

The art, which features the traditional technique of using wax, weaving, and brocading to make patterns, creates unique cultural and historical values and reflect the skills of the Mong people. Chang A Lu, Vice Chairman of Muong Cha District People’s Committee, said: "The ceremony attaches great political and cultural importance. We look forward to receiving more encouragement from the government so that we will continue preserving and promoting our indigenous culture. We will soon propose other arts to be recognized as national intangible cultural heritages."
