More countries confirm first cases of COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - Mauritius, El Salvador and Fiji on Thursday announced the first cases of COVID-19 infection.

Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth confirmed the first three cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday evening during an urgent press briefing. Mr. Jugnauth said that two of the infected people were on a cruise ship and the third one returned from Britain, adding that all the three are now in quarantine at a hospital in Souillac. Jugnauth also said that all passengers - Mauritians or foreigners, will be banned from entering Mauritian territory for the next 14 days.

Fiji Health Minister, Doctor Ifereimi Waqainabete confirms that their team is in the process of identifying all those people who were in contact with the Lautoka man who has tested positive for COVID-19. The same day, Mexico and Cuba confirmed the first deaths of COVID-19.
