Muslim Brotherhood to reconcile if Morsi returns

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood group said Monday that it is willing to reconcile if ousted President Mohamed Morsi resumes power. It said in a statement that the group is willing to accept the initiatives for national reconciliation and called for the return of complete legitimacy, including the president, the suspended constitution and the dismantled Shura Council, the country's upper house of parliament. The statement said that after Morsi's return, he would open a national dialogue on the disputes "to avoid the bloodshed of Egyptian people and to get the country out of the dark tunnel." The Muslim Brotherhood urged an uprising and international intervention to prevent a "new Syria''. Their call followed the Egyptian security force’s use of bullets and teargas to disperse Islamist supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi, resulting in least 42 deaths and 322 injuries.

Also on Monday, Mohamed Elbaradei, Leader of the National Salvation Front and former Head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, condemned the clashes in Cairo and urged an independent investigation. He is currently under consideration for the post of interim Prime Minister.

The Islamist Salafi Nour Party, the second biggest seat holder in the lower house and dissolved upper house of parliament, announced its withdrawal from negotiations to form a new government in protest of the killing of Morsi’s supporters.
