(VOVWORLD) - The National Assembly passed a resolution approving the appointment of Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang to the position of Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term.

The resolution approving the Prime Minister’s proposal to appoint Mr. Luong Tam Quang to be Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term was carried out by electronic voting.
The National Assembly then voted to pass a resolution approving President To Lam’s proposal to appoint Mr. Luong Tam Quang as a member of the National Defense and Security Council.
59-year-old Quang is a native of Kim Dong District, Hung Yen Province with a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Investigation. He previously held positions as of Head of the Economic Security Department, Deputy Director of General Economic Security Department, Assistant to Deputy Minister of Public Security, Deputy Chief of Office and then Chief of Office, and spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security.
In 2019, he was Deputy Minister of Public Security and Head of the Security Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security.
In January 2022, Mr. Quang was promoted to Senior Lieutenant General.
In January 2021, Mr. Quang was elected for the first time to the 13th Party Central Committee at the age of 56.
