Chairman Hue said that during their 23-day meeting, deputies voted to pass eight laws and 17 resolutions and discussed, for the first time, eight draft laws. Deputies finished the supreme oversight of "the mobilization, management and use of resources for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic; the enforcement of policies and laws on grassroots health and preventive medicine.”

The National Assembly spent two and a half days questioning Government members on labor, invalids and social affairs, ethnicity, science and technology, and transport. Deputies requested the Government, the Prime Minister, the Ministers, the heads of the sectors to honor their commitments before the National Assembly and voters nationwide.

At this session, for the first time, the National Assembly discussed report on monitoring results of the settlement of voters' petitions sent to the 4th session and the report summarizing the opinions and petitions of voters sent to the 5th session.

National Assembly Chairman Hue commented on socio-economic, state budget policy-making, saying “The Assembly has made important decisions to boost socio-economic recovery and development, and support people and businesses. Value-added tax rate will be cut by 2% until the end of 2023 to stimulate demand and promote the domestic market."

"The Assembly allowed to allocate more than 4.2 billion USD of the central budget’s medium-term public investment plan in the period of 2021-2025 and the Socio-Economic Development and Recovery Program and the National Target Program.”

The National Assembly fundamentally revised procedures and regulations on entry and exit of Vietnamese citizens and foreigners in Vietnam to further facilitate citizens and stimulate tourism.

Chairman Hue went on to say that the 5th session is a success as it “continues to embrace reform and better meet practical requirements.”

The National Assembly Chairman said he believes that inheriting legacy of the 5th session and following the orientations of the recent midterm meeting of the Party Central Committee, Vietnam will overcome challenges to fulfill socio-economic development tasks in 2023 and beyond.
