According to socio-economic reports from the Government and National Assembly, Vietnam’s socio-economy gained significant achievements last year despite many difficulties.

NA deputies spoke highly of measures proposed by the government, especially short-term solutions such as exempting and reducing taxes, fees, and land rent, and a 2% value-added tax reduction for businesses. The deputies also highlighted the role of the private sector in helping maintain GDP growth, adding revenue to the State budget, generating jobs, reducing poverty, and developing human resources.

Nguyen Van Thi, a deputy representing Bac Giang province, said policies are needed to attract investment from the private sector. “We recommend that the Government provide a more complete assessment of the operation of businesses, especially in the private economic sector, and find effective solutions to support new business development,” said Thi.

Hoang Quoc Khanh, a deputy from Lai Chau province, said trust is essential: “To achieve the economic growth target of 6-6.5% set for this year, it will be necessary to create conditions for businesses to operate stably, invest in development, and build trust.  New policies are needed to help businesses overcome difficulties and grow, particularly regulatory projects that directly affect production and business.”

Deputies proposed that the Government continue to push administrative reform, promote responsibility among leaders, and encourage cadres who are dynamic and creative, who dare to think, dare to do, and dare to take responsibility.
