(VOV) - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has welcomed Administrator Charles Bolden’s visit as a major step toward aerospace technology cooperation between Vietnam and the US.

Vietnam is developing a satellite image and data processing centre in HCM City and it wants NASA to share its experience and cooperate in developing aerospace technology, Nhan told Bolden in Hanoi on December 11.

The Deputy PM proposed that NASA support Vietnam in training human resources and joining space research organisations as well as international space treaties.

For his part, Bolden congratulated the Vietnam National Satellite Centre on its initial achievements after it was established a year ago, and said both sides need to strengthen cooperation on aerospace technology and science.

He briefed his host on the results of a working session between NASA and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, saying both sides had discussed the prospect of bilateral cooperation, especially the application of satellite technology to monitor natural resources, the environment and natural calamities.
