(VOVworld) – The National Assembly Committee of National Defense and Security have examined revisions to the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People’s Army. At a meeting in Hanoi on Monday, delegates said that the 1999 Law on Officers of the Vietnam People’s Army, which was amended and supplemented in 2008, has created legal foundations for improving the quality of the contingent of officers, meeting the demands of national construction and defense. However, the lawmakers said the during the law enforcement, there have been some problems such as the definition of the highest military ranks and criteria for granting and promoting military ranks. Delegates also clarified regulations on who will be granted the highest military rank, the reorganization of the high command of naval region and the capital army command as well as the establishment of the Department of Information Technology.
