Nations agree on rulebook for Paris climate deal

(VOVWORLD) - Negotiators from nearly 200 countries on Saturday finalized a common rulebook of the landmark 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change.

The book, agreed at the 24th Conference of the Parties (COP24) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, is designed to deliver the Paris goals of limiting global temperature rises to well below two degrees Celsius.

COP24 president Michal Kurtyka said putting together the Paris agreement work program is a big responsibility and a long road and they did their best to leave no one behind.

Carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels and industry are projected to rise more than 2% in 2018, taking global fossil CO₂ emissions to a new record high of 37 billion tons, according to researchers at the University of East Anglia and the Global Carbon Project.
