(VOVworld) – The 2014 North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit which concluded in the UK on Friday adopted the alliance’s Readiness Action Plan.
NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said a "spearhead" high-readiness force with several thousand ground troop, part of the existing NATO Response Force, can be deployed rapidly to any alliance member country within 2 days. Though the location of a base hasn’t been set, NATO will expand its command infrastructure and logistics in Eastern Europe to secure conditions for quick deployment the new forces with the air, sea and Special Forces support.

Rasmussen said the organization is bound by a 1997 agreement with Russia, which regulates the no use of armed forces in the external policy and both sides don’t consider the other as its enemy. Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement which clarified that NATO military exercises in Ukraine later this year are likely to increase tension.
