New British PM holds phone talks with French, Indian leaders

(VOVWORLD) - Liz Truss on Saturday held her first phone talk as the UK’s new Prime Minister with French President Emmanuel Macron during which both agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The two leaders focused on the support for Ukraine and how to respond to the consequences of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on food security and energy prices.

The same day, Truss spoke to her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and agreed on the "vital importance" of the India-UK bilateral relationship.

According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the leaders discussed various issues, including the implementation of Roadmap-2030, ongoing FTA negotiations, defence and security cooperation, and people-to-people ties.
