Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien receives nomination at Harvard Ministerial Health Leaders’s Forum

(VOVworld) - Vietnam’s Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien attended the Harvard Ministerial Health Leaders’s Forum at the School of Public Health in Massachusetts this week. The 3-day forum aims to share leadership experiences among the leaders, strengthen a sustainable health system, and improve healthcare services and outcomes. Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien is nominated as one of the Harvard health leaders in 2012 along with 15 other ministers from Asia, Midde-East, Africa and South America. The nomination is made based their innovative ideas and determination in reforming policies to improve people’s health.

During her visit to the US, Minister Tien held a round-table discussion about public and private healthcare with US companies, including GE Health Care and GlaxoSmithKline. Minister Tien introduced a 5-year development plan, and the priorities of Vietnam’s healthcare in the next 2 years. Discussions also covered technical support for Vietnam, hospital’s overload, finance, training and prevention of non-infections diseases.

Previously, minister Tien worked with Harvard and Boston universities on cooperation in training Vietnam’s medical workers.
