At a tourism promotion conference on Sunday, Bui Van Manh, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Tourism, said tourism packages currently target domestic tourists.

“Destinations need to work together to offer products that are suitable for Vietnamese visitors, not unfocused campaigns and random price reductions. The most important thing is that quality of service and new products must match the tastes of Vietnamese people," said Manh.

Last year, Ninh Binh province welcomed 7.5 million visitors, including 1 million foreigners.

In the past 9 months, visitors fell to 2.1 million, down 68% as the result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Only 160,000 were foreign visitors.

To achieve the goal of welcoming 3.5 million visitors this year, Ninh Binh’s tourism sector is trying to attract more domestic tourists, forge closer coordination between travel agencies and destinations, improve the quality of tourism services, and develop more unique and attractive tourism products.

Ninh Binh is home to several world heritage sites – the Trang An landscape complex, Bai Dinh pagoda, the ancient Hoa Lu capital, Dinh Tien Hoang temple, Am Tien cave, and the Hong Quang stone art center.
