The information was made at an online conference in Hanoi to check the implementation process of these policies during the 2014-2015 period.

Duong Minh Do is deputy director of the department in charge of policy beneficiaries of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs. Do said: “after the program to fully check the implementation of preferential policies for revolutionary contributors, every province and city across Vietnam has set up a steering board and provided training for their staff. Each province and city has selected pilot localities and the Ministry has provided documents and examples to grassroots agencies to show them how to conduct the review.”

The program, the biggest-ever general double check, began last April and will be conducted in 11,000 communes and wards nationwide on a total of 4.8 million people. The check focuses on 7 key beneficiaries including martyrs and their families, Vietnamese heroic mothers, war invalids, sick soldiers, and revolutionary soldiers suffering from chemical poisons. The program’s assessments will help to further improve the policies for revolutionary contributors. So far, the check has been done on 2 million people, 1.9 million of them enjoy rights pursuant to the regulations.
