(VOVworld) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, who is also a National Assembly deputy, met with voters in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh district on Monday. He exchanged ideas on recommendations relating to the draft revisions of the 1992 Constitution, the experimental establishment of local People’s Councils and confidence votes for officials elected and approved by the National Assembly. Mr. Trong said that the National Assembly’s approval of confidence votes is part of party building measures and if the work is done properly, it will help move the country forward. Regarding the public feedback to the draft revisions of the 1992 Constitution, the Party leader said this is the first time the constitutional revisions are open widely to the public, giving voices to the people’s heartfelt opinions: “The point is how we sort through these opinions. Those that are related to principles should be kept, while more controversial issues should continue to be discussed. What is inappropriate and against our regime, against our Party and bears the hallmarks of sabotage should be resoundingly criticized and rejected”.

The Party leader said that the Party and State always listen to people’s opinions, urging local Party Committees and administrations to promptly address their complaints.
