(VOVworld) - Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong received UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in Hanoi on Friday. Trong praised the UN system and Mr. Ban's personal contribution in ensuring peace, security, development and human rights while recognizing UN initiatives and activities in addressing regional conflicts, disarmament and global issues. The Party leader expected Mr Ban’s visit to Vietnam will promote UN – Vietnam relations and pledged Vietnam’s further contribution to the UN efforts for peace, security and development as a responsible member of the organization
Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon praised Vietnam’s role in peace, security, stability and cooperation and welcomed Vietnam’s active participation in UN activities. He committed to supporting Vietnam’s implementation of the Millennium Development Goals and other Sustainable Targets after 2015.
